5:00 AM – Pickup & Scenic Transfer
Our private transport collects you directly from your hotel in the urban zone of Pereira (or Salento/Armenia upon request). We make an early departure to cross the valley floor and track upward along the scenic Otún River canyon as dawn begins to break.
6:00 AM – Roadside Birding: La Florida to El Cedral
We begin active field birding along the quiet, forested road running from La Florida up toward the sanctuary. This slow-paced, roadside walking approach provides exceptional vertical visibility into the sub-Andean canopy and humid riverbanks, allowing us to catch early morning mixed-species flocks as they wake up.
8:00 AM – Field Breakfast at El Cedral
Upon reaching the El Cedral trail junction at the upper limit of the canyon road, we take a well-deserved break to enjoy a fresh, packed field breakfast surrounded by the rushing sounds of the mountain river.
11:00 AM – Return Transfer & Checklist Wrap-up
We board our private vehicle for a comfortable drive back down the canyon. Along the way, we will run through our official morning checklist to tally up the endemics and lifers documented before returning you directly to your hotel, concluding a highly productive morning in the field.
